Philosophy & Training Methods
My philosophy is simple: It’s all about relationships. It’s not only important to consider what you teach, but even more so, HOW you teach your dog. I use positive reinforcement, and reward-based training methods that are based on the proven scientific principles of animal learning theory. These methods are dog-friendly and effective, and build trust and cooperation, so you can truly have the best relationship with your dog.
I do not use pain, force, shock, choke, startle, fear, intimidation, or any other aversive methods, that have been proven to cause fear and distrust, anxiety, and even aggression.
Training should build upon your dog’s ability to succeed. The methods you use should build trust, and strengthen the bond between you and your companion dog.
As a Certified Family Dog Mediator, I will look at your dog’s behavior concerns and the resolution for these concerns from a multi-level perspective.
• LEARNING: Learning History, Patterns, Socialization, Trauma.
• ENVIRONMENT: Enrichment and Exercise, Household Dynamics, Stability, Safety, Decompression Time.
• GENETICS: Inherited Traits, Breed Traits, Instincts, Natural Dog Behaviors
• SELF: Health, Developmental Stages, Reproductive Status, Emotions, Stress and Resiliency.
Behavior issues arise for a reason, or a multitude of interwoven reasons. By searching for and finding the cause(s) we can better, more accurately, and completely address your dog’s behavior concerns and find successful solutions.
