MEET YOUR DOG – SCENT HOUND: “Siren Hunter”

(Adapted From Kim Brophey’s Groundbreaking Book, “Meet Your Dog”)

American Foxhound, Basset Hound, Beagle, Black and Tan Coonhound, Bloodhound, Blue Tick Coonhound, English Foxhound, Harrier, Otterhound, Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen, Plott Hound, Redbone Coonhound, Red Tick Coonhound, Treeing Walker Coonhound, And More, Including Mixes Of Any Of These Breeds.

Scent Hounds are “all nose” and were bred to follow scent trails for hours on end to hunt down prey, vocalizing loudly as they work.

You Will Fall In Love With A Scent Hound Because He/she Is:

Social – He/she is generally very outgoing and friendly with people and other dogs.

Emotional – He/she wears her passionate heart on his/her sleeve about everything, from you to squirrels.

Fun – He/she can be hilarious, playful, sociable, creative, and adventurous.

You Might Find A Scent Hound Hard To Live With Because He/She:

Impulsive –   A naturally ambitious dog, he/she can tune out the entire world and everyone in it when he/she is on game.

A Hunter – His/her blind and deaf determination for sniffing out, tracking, and pursuing targets can be annoying and even quite dangerous to other animals (including smaller house pets).

Dramatic –   He/she is born to bay his/her little heart out when life gets exciting. You may feel like you’re watching a pop talent reality show at times.
